I’m a British writer and artist working under the pen name Chaiga T. Cheska. This name, Chaiga, pronounced with an “ay” sound in the middle, comes from the way my younger brother used to say my real name when he was a toddler. I’ve added the letter T to honour his name, following his unexpected death a few years ago, as he has definitely been a significant influence and inspiration in my creative process. I believe that my pen name is a way of carrying my brother with me as I continue to create.
MirMarnia is a story I’ve been writing for over twenty years. It began as a private refuge, a place to retreat when life proved challenging, and has since become a vessel for healing, reckoning, and quiet resistance. Within its pages, I’ve processed real-world events, often through the lens of myth and ritual, using story as both therapy and inquiry.
It is also a spiritual work. MirMarnia holds the echoes of a long illness and a quiet confrontation with mortality. It became the space where I could ask the unanswerable, grieve what was lost, and begin to understand what it means to live with conviction and care.
This world is, in many ways, my quiet protest. A response to injustice, grief, and the complexities of the political landscape I inhabit. Beneath every chapter runs a steady undercurrent: that all life is worth fighting for, no matter what we believe in, where we come from, or how we appear.
MirMarnia is not just a fantasy - it’s a sanctuary stitched from memory, conviction, and hope.
Though I prefer to keep my personal life private, I welcome correspondence from anyone who feels moved to get in touch.
